Dan River District recognizesOur Dan River Park and Tourism Committee.
The Dan River Park / Tourism Committee Volunteers, has done an outstanding job in not only promoting tourism and overseeing the day to day activities of building the Dan River Park but also applying for the trail grant and looking after the appraisals of the land for the trail.
The new trail will connect the Blue Ridge Elementary School with the Park and provide a good safe route for the Children to travel from BRES to the park. Also the trail will afford the local people a place to walk, similar to the trail at the Dehart Park in Stuart.
Unlike similar projects, we did not rely on the tax payers of Patrick County to provide County Staff to take on these responsibilities.Instead we chose to rely on our most valuable resource, volunteers. They have worked diligently to obtain a Grant from DOT to help pay for the trail, donations from private citizens of land, materials, machinery and several hundred thousand dollars of grading to construct a Park that our District can be proud.
The Park is an outstanding achievement due to the commitment of the people in the Dan River District and the Volunteers. To those that have and will donate Land, time. Money, labor, prayers, or just a kind word to the folks that give their time freely; I am deeply grateful, May God Bless You!
Respectfully, Roger T Hayden., Dan River District Supervisor, PCBOS
